Many women want to have larger breasts, thinking their breasts are too small forever, or become too small after pregnancy or weight loss. In any case, the most commonly used approach is a breast prosthesis or implant. According to the scientific literature, less than 1% of women who want to have larger breasts are ready to have surgery1. However, in the United States, the number of women and girls choosing implants for cosmetic reasons more than doubled between 1997 and 20002.
